Deer Creek Survey
With funding from the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources through their
Jobs for the Environment program, Washington Trout will continue stream typing
and culvert assessments in the upper Deer Creek watershed within the Mt.
Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest.
This will complete a project begun in 1996 to analyze culverts for fish passage
problems and re-type fish bearing tributaries within the entire Deer Creek
basin, the most important summer steelhead spawning tributary system of the North
Fork of the Stillaguamish, one of the most important in the state. The
completion of this project will be another step in the recovery of this damaged
but still vital system.
